An array of elected officials, religious leaders and community activists will literally link hands around the Third Police District today in a symbolic move to rid crime, drugs, and gangs from their area.
Led by the popular Third District Cmdr. Ernest Brown, Alds. Leslie Hairston (5th) and Arenda Troutman (20th) are urging all to attend the second annual "Hands Around The Neighborhood For District Safety" event being held at 6:30 p.m. today at 12 staging areas throughout the district.
Hairston said most of the Third Police District is in her ward and that she is hoping to double the number of those attending last year's event.
